Welcome to Transition Troy

Transition Town projects help communities prepare for and adapt to the revolutionary change from oil dependency to local resilience. Transition is not a particular program, but a process for a community to dialogue, decide, and act.

Friends in Vermont and Elsewhere

I've discovered what appears to be a cohesive transition style movement happening in Addison County in Vermont. Based on their web presence they seem to be fairly well organized around local food issues and they have an operational energy cooperative.  What's not to like. And they present their substance with polish. Actually, I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing. But that's just me.

Transition Troy Reimagines Troy

We made a video from our February meeting and we are offering it to the Arts Centers "Reimagining Troy" initiative. You can view the video here.

Ways to Talk About Transition

3 Mar 2013 - 4:00pm - 7:00pm
Folks have been asking, how do we talk about Transition?  What do we say in an “elevator conversation?”  with a group of friends? in a formal meeting?  How can we invite people into the conversation?  Is there one way?  Many ways?  Are there some basics?  What do we say with different kinds of people?  What are examples to use?  Resources available?
We came together and enriched the evening with presence, ideas, questions, and to enjoy the fellowship of potluck.

First Food Group Meeting Notes

Ten of us kicked off the first meeting of the Food Group.  We observed that there were many groups in Troy working on various aspects of food, that the groups often did not know what the other groups were doing, that work was sometimes duplicated unknowingly, that another group working on yet another aspect of food was probably not needed, that our group could make an impact by connecting the existing groups.

We decided:
    1.  Start a Food list serve beginning with those in attendance
